Matalan yoUR Activity focuses on promoting the alternative sports offer in Secondary Schools to support the engagement of pupils who are currently not attracted to the mainstream/traditional offer of sport.
Support is provided through a programme of Experience Days to inspire young people and staff to undertake local planning and delivery of alternative activity in their respective schools with the support of local partners.
A Matalan yoUR Activity resource pack to support local planning is provided for both staff and young people. This showcases a range of activities which could be easily integrated into a school setting utilising existing sports facilities including Sports Hall, Dance Studio, Fitness Suite, Outdoor Playing Fields, and Gymnasium.
Alternative sports included in the programme this year are: Parkour, Ultimate Frisbee, Streetcheer, Dodge Ball, Skipping/Jump Rope, Orienteering, Tchoukball, Softball and Indoor Rowing.
