The Pony Club shall be holding our third Cornish Schools Show Jumping Competition on 23rd May 2009 in conjunction with our Open Show, which will be held at Tregurtha Downs, Plain-an-Gwarry near Marazion.
The competition will consist of a secondary school section and a primary school section which will be run under Pony Club Show Jumping Rules. Teams of four will jump two rounds, with three scores to count, the second round being timed. As before, we will run to a strict timetable as this will enable children to take part in the rest of the Show as well. We will send team times to everyone concerned.
Secondary Schools: All four team members will jump consecutively; the first round height will be 75cm with the second round being timed at a height of 80cm. As the second round will be timed, this will be used to work out the team placings. The top 6 individuals will jump off for their placings.
Primary Schools: All four team members will jump consecutively; the first round height will be 50cm with the second round being timed at a height of 55cm. The children may be led or assisted. As the second round will be timed this will be used to work out the team placings. The top 6 individuals will then jump off for their placings. Primary schools may combine to make up a team.
A Challenge Cup will be presented to the winning team in both sections. Rosettes will be given to sixth place for teams and individuals in both sections. Special rosettes will be presented to every pupil taking part. Rosettes will also be given to sixth place for the best presented teams, this will be judged on team spirit, team support, manners, behaviour and general appearance.
Each team will require an adult team leader (chef d'équipe) who will be responsible for their team. This can be a parent or a teacher. We will need a contact number or email address for out of school hours as the competition is being run on a Saturday.
The Pony Club is a national body and is required to conform to strict Health and Safety regulations. The Pony Club has comprehensive third party insurance which covers this event.
Hats should be of the following standard:
In accordance with Pony Club rules, it is recommended that body protectors be worn for the show jumping classes, although this is not compulsory; however, schools/parents may insist that all pupils wear body protectors as they are 16 and under.
The entry fee is £28.00 per team (due to the high cost of organising such events, in line with current practice, fees will not be returned after the closing date for entries except on documented veterinary/medical grounds). Entry forms and cheques (made payable to the WHPC) to be returned to Mrs. H Bodé, 33a Tredrea Lane, St Erth, Hayle, TR27 6JS. Closing date for entries will be Tuesday 12th May 2009. Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied by a cheque. Times will be emailed to Managers and riders as soon as possible after the closing date.
