Healthy Schools Workshop

Half-day workshop for secondary schools and Pupil Referral UnitsCore Theme : Physical Activity

This workshop is the first of a series that the Cornwall Healthy Schools team will be running this academic year. Each half-day workshop will focus on a particular Core Theme and will offer you lots of information, support and ideas to develop your Healthy Schools work.

The workshops are open to Healthy Schools Co-ordinators and other relevant staff in school – please can co-ordinators ensure that this information is circulated appropriately.

Programme

The programme will include:

• Getting Girls Active – barriers and solutions.
• Changes to the HS national programme – increasing the focus in school on needs-led work in key health areas, links to the new Ofsted Wellbeing Indicators.
• Consultation: the Schools Health Education Unit surveys and what they can offer your school.
• Penrice School: presentation from the Pink Ladies and Claire Stephens – peer-mentoring and promoting self-esteem through physical activity.

The details for the first half-day workshop are as follows:

• Friday 9th October
• 09.30 – 12.30 (approx)
• Training Room, Health Promotion Building, Wilson Way, Redruth
• Refreshments provided.
• As this is a half-day event we are NOT able to provide lunch. However, a sandwich delivery round does call at the building each day, with a wide selection of sandwiches, fruit and snacks, should you wish to purchase anything, and you are most welcome to eat here with us in the training room before you leave.
