Over 150 Cornish school children will battle for the title of Cornish Schools Surf Champions.
The Animal Academy at Tolcarne beach in Newquay will be the setting of one of the country’s largest surfing competitions as Cornish school pupils abandon the classroom and take to the waves in their bid to become Cornish Schools Surf Champions.
At Tolcarne beach over the weekend of 24th- 25th October the biggest ever Cornish Schools surf contest will take place with over 150 competitors from 14 schools battling it out for the title of Cornish School Champions. The event organised by the students of the Surf Academy@Treviglas is forecast to be blessed with excellent surf conditions just asking to be bashed to the beach. The students will study important event management skills in running the event, in areas such as marketing, finance and sales.
The event will feature under 16, under 14, girls and bodyboard divisions. According to Ellis Attwell, Surf Academy@treviglas director, ‘the Cornish Schools excels in its aim of bringing together surfers of all standards from across the county, with the ethos on accessibility for all whilst ensuring that top level surfing by our promising juniors can still be celebrated. I would like to say a massive thank you to Animal and Ginsters for their commitment to grassroots level surfing in this country’.
