School children, from the age of five to eighteen, in west Cornwall will release a powerful song, ‘Whose World’, on ITunes on Thursday 10 December which was written in 1991 by an English teacher; Dr. Rhys Griffiths now deceased, with the music composed by the then music teacher, Chris Everett. Both taught at Cape Cornwall School, St Just.
Permission has been given to record the song and all the work has been done by volunteers. The song has been produced by Julian Horner, the manager of Penwith Community Radio station. The song will feature Esteban Antonio, the internationally acclaimed classical and flamenco guitarist and composer. Esteban is now based in Cornwall to launch his unique new instrument - the Ha-Shem. This invention was built by Cornish guitar maker Kif Woods and it is a completely new departure in the evolution of sound, harmonies and composition - this is the classical guitar of the 21st Century!
"Whose World" is the First Ever commercially released recording featuring the Ha-Shem and Esteban is proud to join with the youngsters of west Cornwall to perform. Any money made from the project will go to community projects in the very rural district of Penwith, which is 21st most deprived of 354 districts in England.
In the words of the song the world is yours and mine and hers and his. Yes, it is yours and mine and hers and his and it is about time we all, yes that it is each and every one of us, adopted a proactive approach to ensure the sustainability of our planet. Continued greed by nations is not acceptable and history tells us that those with these ambitions bring disaster to the planet. Let’s invest in our future and that of our children and their children. Lets be true guardians of planet Earth and hand it on knowing we have done the very best possible and that our investment will be in people and improving their quality of life. The people, yes that is you and me, need to say enough is enough and demand that the world leaders put us before greed and initiate immediate significant reductions in Greenhouse Gas emissions and not deliver a bodged up compromise which is par for the course. They need to be truly accountable to the people and we need to show, that is you, me, him and her, that we do want change---WE ARE FED UP WITH THE SPIN AND NOW WANT ACTION. POWER TO THE PEOPLE, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED AS IT IS OUR PLANET.
We are asking you to make a real difference by downloading the tune and making sure it is played every where so that the world leaders cannot hide from its impact. Remember the world is yours and mine and hers and his and the time has come to show it. STAND UP AND BE COUNTED AS IT IS OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN WHO WILL BENEFIT. IS THAT WORTH FIGHTING FOR?
A young man, Jake, from Cape Cornwall School will read a poem they have written at the end of the song.
This is a group of local people trying to make an impact on the outcomes at Copenhagen. Join our campaign and remember all monies raised go to local community projects.
