Penwith Primary Badminton Festival

Friday 1st Feb, Primary Year 3/4 Festival

Interest has been expressed from schools, coaches and clubs across the county for the re-introduction of the Primary Schools Badminton Festival Competition. As part of the School Games, this event would support the development and growth of junior badminton and competitive activity across the whole County.

From a Badminton Development perspective Years 3/4 are the priority year groups for attracting and engaging new players.

On Friday the first Mounts Bay Academy hosted a Primary Badminton Festival for 54 primary pupils. The event was hugely successful and throughly enjoyed by all participants. This was an excellent opportunity for Mounts Bays Sport Leaders to lead during an event and gain much needed experience for their qualification. Alongside them was the year 10 coaching group, both groups received fantastic feedback from the Primary teachers in how they engaged the younger pupils and made it an enjoyable experience.

Teams participated in ten stations gain points at each station, which was totalled up to give the overall scores. Teams consisted of six pupils three girls and three boys per school. The overall points were very close indeed.
